Willi Bucher is originally a painter – and has remained so to this day. By this, it is meant not only that, in addition to many other means of expression, paint and canvas still play a large role in his work. The technical experiments and research projects, which for a good ten years now have also played a larger role in his increasingly spatially-oriented art, can be seen as a continuation of his painting, albeit with other means. Bucher considers himself to be a child of the analogue age. He was already 50 years old when he began his extensive investigation of the possibilities of video and digital technology and has since developed a broad range of site- and time-specific works.
